My Favorite Buildings In Chapel Hill

    April 16, 2019 /

I am becoming increasingly nostalgic as I enter the final month of my undergraduate career. As a result, I thought that it’d be nice to dedicate a post to some of my favorite buildings in Chapel Hill. I. Carroll Hall Carroll is the building that makes me wonder why I pay rent. As the home of the School of Media and Journalism, it’s become my sanctuary. The majority of my classes (and my only all-nighters) have taken place somewhere within its walls during my time at UNC-Chapel Hill. The building is a tad bit confusing to navigate, but I’ve become an expert at finding short cuts, knowing the best times…

5 Reasons To Use Airbnb When Traveling

    March 19, 2019 /

In case you’ve never heard of it before, Airbnb is a lodging reservation website on which home owners can list their spaces and “match” with travelers who are looking for a place to stay. The site currently has over 2 million home listings all over the world! I’ve used Airbnb six times now – including a 3-month-long stint in New York City – and I have 2 more upcoming trips already planned. I’ve become such a fan of the site because of how easy it is to use. I’m also lucky enough to have never had a bad experience with any of my listings. Below are a few reasons why…

    Decolonize that mind, babe.

    March 4, 2019 /

On September 23, 2017 at 2 p.m., I got the words, “Decolonize that mind,” tattooed below my heart and across my ribs. My mother freaked out when I told her, and my father went completely silent over the phone. Then I shared the meaning behind my decision with them, and it eased both their minds. During a visit to York in the UK, I came across a Jamaican bar that had words like Ubuntu, black love and black power posted all over its walls. It was powerful. Later that night, I posted a photo of that wall to my Instagram page with a caption that read, “Decolonize that mind, babe.…

The Cute Cafe in Carrboro That’s Stolen My Heart

    January 30, 2019 /

Napoli has it all: delicious drinks, handmade gelato, fresh pizza and friendly staff! In September 2018, a new cafe opened up on East Main Street in Carrboro. Every time I’d be on the bus home, I’d look out the window and see the aesthetically-pleasing cafe in all its hipster glory. I knew that I had to go there. When I finally made my way through the lime green door that leads to Napoli Cafe, my life was changed. They have so many wacky (and tame) gelato flavors to choose from and they all seem to taste good! I tend to play it safe with my desserts but when I first…
